Bishop R. Walker Nickless has served as the 7th Bishop of the Diocese of Sioux City since 2005. A native of Denver, Colo., he served as pastor of Our Lady of Fatima parish in Lakewood, Colo, and as Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Denver. Bishop Nickless was nominated as a Prelate of Honor (Monsignor) by Pope John Paul II in 1996, and he was one of the first appointments made by Pope Benedict XVI when he was named the leader of the Diocese of Sioux City.
